Meet our Members – Dr. Dawn M. Tladi

The AHKGA March Newsletter featured Dr. Dawn M. Tladi, the Botswana Report Card leader! Thank you, Dawn, for providing the following information.

Dr. Dawn M. Tladi is a Senior Lecturer and Acting Head of the Sport Science Department at the University of Botswana. She holds a PhD in Movement Science from Florida State University, specializing in Exercise Physiology. Her research focuses on the role of physical activity and exercise in preventing and managing chronic diseases, particularly conditions associated with behavioural and metabolic risk factors among Botswana adults.

Dr. Tladi has also explored the effects of long-term HIV treatment on adolescents’ cognition, nutrition, and physical fitness, contributing important insights to public health in Botswana. Within the AHKGA, she has served as Botswana’s Country Leader for Global Matrix 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0. She has also contributed to global initiatives such as the Global Observatory for Physical Activity (GoPA!) and Global Observatory for Physical Education (GoPE!).

She is currently leading a national survey on physical activity, dietary intake, and fitness among school-aged children in Botswana. Through her research, teaching, and advocacy, Dr. Tladi continues to advance physical activity promotion and children’s health nationally and globally.
