The Philippines’ 2022 Report Card helps inform health objectives for the nation!

We are pleased to share that the Philippines’ 2022 Report Card has been cited in the Department of Health’s National Health Objectives Philippines 2023-2028.

“A high prevalence of insufficient physical activity exists among male and female adolescents, as well as rural and urban adolescents. From the 2022 Philippine Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Adolescents (Cagas et.al., 2022), the vast majority of Filipino adolescents do not meet global physical activity recommendations, unchanged since 2003. However, the gender disparity remains notable, with more females being insufficiently active than males. These findings underscore the need for local authorities and stakeholders to create more physical activity opportunities for all Filipino children and adolescents, particularly females.” (Department of Health’s National Health Objectives Philippines 2023-2028, page 65)

Additionally, the UP College of Human Kinetics has been awarded the Healthy Pilipinas Bronze Award by the Department of Health! This recognition highlights significant contributions to the field of health research, particularly through work on the Philippine 2022 Report Card.

Congratulations, team Philippines!
