Israel Releases Their First Physical Activity Report Card

On May 18, 2023, the official launch event for Israel’s first national Report Card on Child and Adolescent Physical Activity was held at Ichilov Medical Center – Tel Aviv together with the Ministry of Health National Council for Health Promotion and National Council for Pediatrics. The goal of the meeting was to engage key stakeholders and garner policy maker support for the expert panel recommendations. The event included participation of key representatives from the Ministries of Health, Sport and Culture and Education as well as Dr Salomé Aubert, Vice president of the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA). The meeting was attended by approximately 100 professionals and stakeholders in the fields of medicine, education, physical activity, local and national government.

Lectures included a presentation of the Israeli report card and the Israeli Para-report card. This was followed by a presentation of the Expert Panel recommendations and initiatives currently in place including a medical prescription for physical activity by a leading HMO in cooperation with municipalities, a classroom-based physical activity pilot program, and a successful physical activity initiative in the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish population. Dr. Aubert shared AHKGA findings on successful initiatives around the world, of great interest to the attendees. During the meeting members of the expert panel were awarded a certificate from Moshe Bar Siman Tov, Director General and Dr. Sharon Alroy-Preis, head of Public Health Services, Ministry of Health. The report card launch was accompanied by an interview on national radio, coverage on 2 additional national radio stations, and a national television news show.
