Patrick Miniti
Patrick Miniti is an Assistant Lecturer in Physical Education and Sport at the Solomon Islands National University. With a strong academic background in Education, Sport Coaching, and Recreational Studies, he has dedicated my career to advancing teacher education and promoting physical activity, well-being, and community engagement through physical education and sport. Patrick holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Education and Sport and Recreational Studies, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, specializing in Physical and Sport Education, pedagogy, and coaching. His research focuses on the integration of local materials and indigenous games as both teaching resources and instructional tools for delivering physical education in Solomon Islands schools. Drawing on his experience as a Physical Education educator, he advocates for a holistic approach to teaching PE—one that embraces both physical and cultural contexts. In the Solomon Islands, locally sourced materials provide a sustainable and effective alternative for enhancing PE instruction, ensuring relevance and accessibility for students. Patrick is deeply passionate about incorporating evidence-based practices into the curriculum and creating opportunities for hands-on learning in real-world classroom and sport settings. His teaching philosophy centers on active learning, where students engage with the material through practical activities and reflective practice. Patrick works closely with my students to develop their skills as educators and community leaders, empowering them to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Marineth Magi-Dereveke
Marineth Magi-Dereveke is an Assistant Lecturer in Public Health at the Solomon Islands National University. She holds a Master of Public Health in Non-Communicable Diseases from Fiji National University and has extensive experience in health promotion, diabetes management, and NCD prevention across the Solomon Islands. Her research focuses on hypertension, childhood obesity, and the use of digital technology to promote healthy living among Pacific adolescents. Marineth is dedicated to advancing public health education and contributing to evidence-based strategies that improve the health and well-being of Pacific communities.
